Jeff Bell enjoyed four years of high school woodshop and through excelling in that program was offered his first job in a local cabinet shop in 1986. This is where he met his current partner, Glenn Grimes. Jeff worked the woodworking side, as well as the finishing side of that business. Over the next 7 years, Jeff moved to 2 other shops to further develop his skills. In 1993 Jeff went on his own and has worked for himself ever since. In 1995 Jeff and Glenn formed a partnership and launched The Cabinet Shop. They were located in Watsonville, CA until 2006. At this time they built a new building in Castroville, CA where they are currently located. Through the years Jeff has strived to learn and improve on various finishing techniques which today rivals the best the industry has to offer.
Jeff prides himself as the 'design guy' in his business. Over the years customers have enjoyed working with Jeff to utilize his vast wealth of ideas and architectural taste. Jeff is also the 'color guy' and for years has strived to learn as much about finishing and creating color as he can. This shows in the finished products that The Cabinet Shop provides.
Jeff lives in Carmel Valley, has been happily married 15 years and has 3 children ranging from 8 - 13 years old. Jeff's other interests include family time, childrens activites, fishing and a life-long passion for golf. Even though he can only play 3 - 4 times a month, Jeff is a scratch golfer. Jeff often enjoys golfing with his customers who share the same passion.
Glenn Grimes started work in the cabinet industry in 1978 under the supervision of highly skilled craftsmen, developing a strong interest for producing fine cabinetry/wood working products. Gaining more experience/knowledge throughout the years, in 1988 Glenn went out on his own to start his own shop.
Early on, Glenn learned that new life could be given to old wood, many projects were built with reclaimed barn wood as construction material giving a unique aged appeal. In the early 80's, Glenn developed skills in producing a more traditional finished product. In the 90's Glenn and Jeff joined together to start The Cabinet Shop, using all the their past knowledge and experience to produce many styles from traditional to contemporary, distressed to refined.
Currently, Glenn works a lot with computer technology in developing precision cabinetry incorporating CNC routers along with traditional machinery.
